How to Travel to Spain on a Budget in 2026

Cheap flights to Alicante

Alicante-Elche is the main Costa Blanca airport. In 2026 many airlines offer connections from Poland – Wizz Air, Ryanair, LOT. Book 2–3 months ahead. February, March and November are usually the cheapest months.

Apartment rental instead of hotel

An apartment with a kitchen saves money on food. Breakfasts and light lunches DIY, dinners out – the best of both worlds. Check offers outside peak season.

Getting around

Car hire often works out cheaper than taxis, especially for 3–4 people. Compare prices on Rentalcars.com. ALSA buses connect main towns – cheap but slower. Cercanías train from Alicante to Benidorm – convenient option.

Eating on a budget

Menu del día (€12–15) at local restaurants – lunch with starter, main, dessert and drink. Mercadona and Consum supermarkets – good prices. Avoid restaurants right on the beachfront.

Free attractions

Walks around old towns of Alicante, Altea, Villajoyosa. Climbing Peñón de Ifach – symbolic fees. Beaches – free. Museums – often free on Sundays or evenings.
